*The agent leans back against the wall with alittle smirk on his face.* Yes, sir. I "leaked" the information to those fools in the republic. They believe we will be landing on alderaan in thirteen days. Plenty of time for you warrior types to land and, set up a trap for them. *He takes a long drink from his glass before setting it back on the table* I'll get to work on setting them up for the next trap. Once you wipe them all off of Alderaan we can spring a few more traps on some other planets to help keep the scales tipped in our favor. Soon, we will have the republic back on its knees begging us to spare the few left standing. *He smiles as he pulls up a hood making his way for the door of the cantina.*
(OOC)
Hello from The Order, a Republic guild that is setting up an RP-PvP event. The first of what will hopefully be a continuous series of battles with a coalition of imperial and, republic faction guilds.
The first battle is scheduled for Sunday 3/18/12 to start at 6PM PST.
Here is the description of the battles and, rules of the event.
-This is an RP-PvP event. We will not be emoting the fights we will actually be crossing sabers and, dodging blaster fire however, general RP protocol applies no OOC comments in the say channel, etc etc. We are hoping to avoid the Ilum style combat of just two large bubbles of players throwing AOE spells at each other. With the template we have created the two factions have the chance to be a b bit creative in the way they approach the fights. Also, due to the changing locations of each skirmish different tactics can become available to use on the enemy such as, an open area that would allow stealthers to move behind the enemy group or, choke points on bridges. Remember folks the goal of this is to have some fun ICly so let us hope we take full advantage of it!
-Here is the campaign setup. The campaign will be a series of battles across various planets to help simulate the actual battles of the war to help give participants the feeling of actually being part of the great war that is unfolding around us in quests. To do this we will simulate it in a series of battles and skirmishes.
There will be three battles per planet. The faction that win's two of these battles decides the next planet the campaign will continue to.
Each battle will happen the day of the event. A battle will consist of three skirmishes in predetermined zones. The faction that win's two out of the three skirmishes claims victory for that day's battle.
To help keep things realistic and, time efficient so that all members who arrive can stay the duration of the event we will set up boundaries at the three skirmish locations the week before the event with, representatives from each faction.
To determine victory for a skirmish you must either kill all members or the opposing faction or they must "retreat" to outside of the boundaries. If your character dies during the skirmish you are not allowed to rejoin the fight until the next skirmish. This will help us keep the skirmishes down to a manageable time limit while, simulating a realistic fight. The best way for this to happen is to not release until forced to. It may even give your character a unique perspective somewhat similar to how a wounded soldier would view the fight. You may also choose to withdraw instead of fighting to the death this is up to each faction and, individual player.
Once one faction is defeated the two groups will move to the next skirmish location in their designated spawn. We will have a representative from each faction in ventrillo or, mumble to communicate when each faction is ready to begin the fight.
-Our goal with these events is to keep them simple enough to be effective but, intricate enough to where we bypass the Ilum Zerg feeling while still creating a fun RP-PvP event that can gain moment and, has some longevity to help generate another tool for us to use in our own personal stories and, guild stories as well as add to the RP Community of our server.
-In the spirit of keeping the event fair and, balanced for each faction we will have predetermined "Team Leaders" For each faction that will help manage their respective factions members. To help maintain balanced numbers we will not exceed a, 3 member difference between either group. We will count members based on their levels as follows. Level 50- 1 Member, Level 40-49 - 1/2 Member, Level 1-39 will not count against a factions member count. I personally encourage all people interested to come out without worrying about your level. Unlike many games even if you are not the highest level you can still injure higher level players.
Due to the possibility of unbalanced teams we will do this as a first come first serve basis beginning to form the teams 45 minutes before the start of the event so, plan ahead with that in mind. *NOTE there is no reserving your spot* We will announce the team leaders the day before the event (unless there is an emergency in which case we will be make contact with officers of all participating guilds informing them of any changes) so, check The Orders Forums to know who to contact for your team.
Due to the chances that not everyone's computers or, internet can not handle massive numbers we will be limiting the group sizes for each faction to no more than 24 members. This may change in the future based on player interest and, how most people report back with game performance. We are hoping since these fights are not on Ilum we may experience less technical problems.
-For any questions comments, or to let me know your guild is interested in joining up for this event contact me in game through tell or mail system. Kothel for republic players and, Nelkeek for imperial players.
