Understandibly, there is a certain degree of confusion as to operations around the Onyx Claw. This is not true. There isn't any confusion at all - though some of you, new and old, potential and veteran, may have questions that need not be answered every single day via Communications.
FAQ 1: What is the Mission of the Onyx Claw?
A: The Claw is as it has always been - a mercenary military arm of the Empire that crushes it's foes, external and internal, with extreme prejudice. Members are expected//required to be ready to perform on the battlefronts of Flashpoints, Warzones, and Operations. This is an RP guild - mature content arises all the time. All members of the Claw are expected to be adults. (18+)
FAQ 2: Does the OCMA engage in die rolled or RNG RP struggles?
A: No. There is a duel system and world PVP areas to accomodate this - Including a group PVP zone on Tatooine. If you have something that is absolutely required to settle your RP conflict through an emoted medium, work it out IN ADVANCE with the victim//subject and quickly see to it's conclusion.
Combat is fast-paced, and should be kept in that light.
FAQ 2a: But I'm RPing a powerful Sith Lord who has rainbows for eyes and shoots lightning out his ass! I'm supposed to be all-powerful!
A: The OCMA understands that Power is described, in relative terms, to your level. If you're a mouthy level 25 who hasn't PVP'd a day in his life, if someone challenges you to a duel who's level 50 it's going to be a short-lived event. Cooincidentally, declining a duel made with justifyable intent (Meaning, loosely, someone challenged you because of an action you did) means you lost it and suffer ramifications accordingly as though you had your ass kicked.
FAQ 3: How is the OCMA divided?
The OCMA is broken up into 3 larger groups that are in turn broken down into smaller ones as needed for the structure and Chain of Command. These are (in no particular order of importance or hirearchy)
The Onyx Claw Executive Finances Division, responsible for all credit transactions including, in addition to legitamate business ventures, illicit ones. Examples include but aren't limited to: Slave Trade, Sex Trade*, Narcotics Trade, Weapons Trade, Etc.
The Onyx Claw Mercenary Army (OMCA), responsible for most of the guild's work. This is further broken down into three battalions, headed by different officers. Two of these are available for immediate joining (the Intelligence and Gruntwork units) while the third is available by appointment only.
The Onyx Claw Sith Presence, responsible for all matters pretaning to the Force and it's study. Holocron research, relic hunting, site securing, Dark Side mysteries, all fall into this area. Non-Sith are as free to apply as Sith - after all every Sith Lord has occasional use for a solid bounty hunter who finds relics.
*The Onyx Claw is -NOT- an ERP guild, we are about far more than that, and even if you are here for that type of slavery in the OCEF Divsion, more than that type of RP is expected from you. While it is accepted that this will happen, keep explicit content confined to a ship, and remember that those types of slaves are subject to Age Verification and immediate expulsion without further questions if it is discovered somehow that you are a minor and managed to join us.
FAQ 4: How do I get promoted?
A: The first immediate answer is "Don't ask the Guildmaster" for your promotion. Your individual officers in charge of your divisions are DIRECTLY responsible for YOUR promotions and the establishment of criteria by which you will be or won't be elevated.
If your Officer is not available to handle the promotion, the Section Leader (Lieutenant) would be the next one to check with.
Asking Darth Zail anything related to "promote me plz" will be met with a reference to this very FAQ.
FAQ 5: I have an Alt character that I want in the guild, can I get an invite?
A: Yes - AFTER you submit another application for this character. There are no 'junk alts' in the Claw - every character has a story, a place, and a home. Yours is no different. This may seem cumbersome initally, but it really is for the betterment of the guild as a whole.
Even Non-RP characters are expected to have a basic 1 paragraph history tendered with their application - that way if you suddenly decide to play the character through his//her eyes, you have established a beginning.
